The sentence behind the struggle
I had repeated that scientific papers were boring and annoying. The belief reduced curiosity before I reached the first equation. It also fed a second loop—imagining how life might have been different if I had chosen another path.

A more useful instruction
I replaced those conclusions with directions: papers can be interesting because they reveal how another scientist solved a problem; once I choose, I move forward and learn from the result. The new beliefs were not magic affirmations. They were hypotheses that invited different behaviour.
Evidence must follow language
Saying a new sentence without opening the paper changes little. I needed to read, ask better questions and collect evidence that understanding could grow. In science, a model earns trust by surviving contact with data. A belief about ourselves deserves the same standard.
Put the belief on trial
A belief filters what we notice and what actions appear reasonable. Treating it as an unquestionable fact keeps contradictory evidence invisible. I prefer to treat a limiting belief like a scientific model: identify its prediction, search for exceptions and test a more useful alternative.
Try this: write one limiting sentence, three experiences that seem to support it and three that complicate it. Replace it with a believable working hypothesis. Design one small action that the old belief would avoid and the new hypothesis would attempt, then record the actual result.
